What is the Most Expensive Tequila?

Let’s assume you have a few extra bucks lying around, and you’d like to splurge on a bottle of ultra-premium tequila. If you are a true tequila aficionado, you might even have aspirations of owning one of the most expensive tequilas in the world. What do you think that might cost? A couple grand?

Wrong. Try $3.5 million.

SOME OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE TEQUILAS

A single bottle of Ley Diamante sold for $3.5 million, and it’s officially the most expensive bottle of tequila in the world. This exquisite bottle contains 4 kilos of platinum, an extremely precious (& pricey) metal. It also contains 4,100 white diamonds. The tequila itself is an Extra Añejo that’s been aged for 7 years in oak barrels.

The Patron En Lalique Limited Edition Extra Anejo seems like a bargain at $6,180 (for Serie 1 – Serie 2 costs even more at $7,440). The bottle is a crystal decanter designed by Lalique, the undisputed masters of French crystal.

Clase Azul Ultra will also set you back a pretty penny at $2,400. It touts itself as an ultra-premium, Extra Anejo tequila and the brand’s crown jewel. It’s produced in limited quantities and the decanter includes 3 precious metals: pure platinum, sterling silver, and 24-carat gold.

AN AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE So what’s a tequila lover to do if you don’t have quite that much spare cash lying around, but still want to splurge on a special bottle? Señor Rio’s Extra Anejo is aged 5 years in French cognac barrels (yes, we actually do import our barrels from France), and is the deepest in color and taste of all of our tequilas. The decanter is a beautiful hand painted black and white bottle that resembles a perfume bottle. It will definitely be something you’ll want to keep and display long after the tequila inside is gone. Our 3rd generation Extra Añejo is the most superior to date. This limited edition (only 900 bottles) is aged to perfection and is comparable to a fine Single Malt Scotch or Cognac. It is superior in quality, exceptionally smooth, and won the silver medal at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Customer reviews include “…found it to be the smoothest tequila I have ever had! Definitely the BEST on the shelf” and “My absolute favorite! Has a smooth taste and have shared it with my family and friends.” It is a must have for the tequila connoisseur or collector!

At just under $300 a bottle, you’ll still have money leftover to splurge on a second bottle – or, at least, some authentic Carne Asada or Chili Verde to go with your special drink. Anyone who appreciates an ultra-premium tequila in a beautiful bottle will love our Extra Añejo.

Be sure to check your Total Wine & More store to make sure they have this limited edition Extra Añejo expression available to buy. If the Extra Añejo is still out of your budget, try one of our other expressions and help feed a family. From now until 12/31/20, we will donate $1.00 for every 750ml bottle of Señor Rio tequila sold to the St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix Arizona. Together our kindness counts and as a company that cares we ask that you please be safe, stay well, and support small business.

Thank you for what you can do to help us feed families. Don’t forget to share this so we get the word out about helping feed those in need.

Salud!
